USU Institutional Brand Awareness (P1)

The University of North Sumatra (USU) has enormous potential in the fields of Education, Research and Community Service, especially supported by the local wisdom and potential of North Sumatra. However, the various potentials and advantages possessed by USU are still not published and well communicated to USU's partners, stakeholders and USU's academics and the international community. This is because the information presented on the USU website is incomplete and the availability of information in English is still limited. Therefore USU's areas of excellence are Tropical Science and Medicine, Agroindustry, Local Wisdom, Energy (sustainable), Natural Resources (biodiversity, forest, marine, mine, tourism), Technology (appropriate) and Arts (ethnic) or abbreviated as TALENTA has not become a magnet for stakeholders and the international community to work with USU. Therefore, one of the efforts to improve academic reputation will be focused on efforts to increase USU's visibility to the wider community.

Various activities that will be carried out in order to increase international awareness of USU's existence are as follows:

  • The survey was conducted to determine the extent to which the international community recognized USU's reputation. Surveys are conducted annually and analysis of survey results can be used as an evaluation of the impact of USU's activities that have been carried out,
  • English web content management is carried out so that the information available on the USU website can be accessed and understood by the international community,
  • Content marketing / social media management / Search Engine Optimization (SEO),
  • Development of a stakeholder database aimed at expanding USU's collaborative network,
  • Newsletter management is needed to ensure that stakeholders will receive the latest information regarding USU's advantages and achievements.

The USU institutional brand awareness program will be a development program that will be carried out jointly by the Bureau of Information Systems, Planning and Development, Public Relations, International Affairs Office, Information Systems Center, Language Center, Research Institute, Community Service Institute and USU's Center for Employment Services. Various institutions and work units at the university level will collaborate with faculties and study programs to make institutional brand awareness successful.
