Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) on Penang visited Universitas Sumatera Utara on Monday 13th March 2023, in USU’s Rector Audience Room. UiTM visits USU in order to discuss about collaboration with USU on the fields of research.
UiTM is greeted by USU’s Rector Prof. Dr. Muryanto Amin, S.Sos., M.Si, USU’s head of research institution Prof. Dr. Robert SIbarani MS, USU’s faculty of law’s research leader Prof. Dr. Ningrum Natasya Sirait, S.H., MLI, and the others. UiTM is represented by the dean of Faculty Tourism Management and Hospitality, Associate Professor. Dr. Azila Azmi, and Dr Suria Sulaiman, Angayar Kanni Ramaiah, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Azrul Abdullah and Norshamshina Mat Isa.
The collaboration plan between them is based on the plan to make an Halal Tour on Toba area, this plan has been planned by the mayor of north sumatera, Edy Rahmayadi, the problem is the citizen of Toba’s negative respond to that plan because that will be a threat to their economy.
USU and UiTM side focused on this collaboration’s not only focus on the research field but alsoon the community service. This is due to considerations regarding social, economic, cultural, legal and tourism in the Toba area. Later the research results obtained from the collaborative research carried out can become material for conceptualizing strategies in achieving the goal of declaring halal tourism in Toba.
Besides research, there will also another partnership between UiTM and USU, UiTM also invite USU to participate on UiTM’s Summer Course Program.
